Hazel Trittner

Here is my little story.  I call myself a Senior Survivor – firstly because I’m fairly ancient and secondly because I’ve been in remission for 13 years, 14 years since diagnosis.  I found a lump in my left breast in 2006 (just after a clear mastectomy, so be vigilant at self-examination, ladies). The diagnosis was Stage 3 triple-negative breast cancer, followed by a radical mastectomy and then chemo.  Apart from an annual check-up, no further treatment has been required so I know I’m one of the lucky ones.

I was introduced to Wings of Hope a couple of years ago and love the friendly people and the warm atmosphere.  I was given first-class treatment and care by the oncologists and staff at Olivemed (Olivedale Clinic) and that’s why I enjoy visiting chemo patients there, getting to know them, and telling them about Wings of Hope. It’s my very small attempt to give back.
